KS. Historical Society Museum – Wedding Venue

The Kansas Historical Society’s Museum, here in Topeka,  is a popular wedding / reception venue. The most popular area at the museum to have a reception is in the main lobby area. There are several nice areas off of the main lobby area for the cake, buffet/meal serving line and even a play area for the kids.

There are other areas available to rent such as a very large classroom suitable for smaller receptions, outside on the ‘plaza’, or even other buildings available. A really fun benefit is that the museum’s exhibits are available for your guests to walk through during the cocktail/dinner time. The exhibits are a really popular place for wedding parties to get some great fun images in the exhibits.

Another benefit to this venue is the variety of areas for outdoor photos or even a setting for your ceremony. There are natural prairie grass walking paths, a restored school house, an old bridge, gazebo and some great architecture to work with. As of this article, as I understand it (always confirm with your event coordinator), the fees charged for the venue rental include a lot of things that other venues sometimes charge extra for  like required security, liability insurance and custodians/cleanup.  You also get to choose your own caterer at the museum.
